HAVE you ever dreamt of having a bath in Wrexham Lager?
Well you can now do the next best thing thanks to a local soap maker teaming up with the iconic town brew.
Gill Thomas-Jones, who set up Mountain Garden Botanics at the start of lockdown while recuperating from a broken ankle, has launched Wrexham Lager soap just in time for Christmas.
Th entrepreneur behind the New Brighton-based business approached Joss Roberts at Wrexham Lager who loved the idea.
Gill has produced a wide variety of soaps, including botanical ingredients such as fennel, lavender, lemongrass and nettle.
This is the first time she has used lager - but there is evidence to support its skincare properties.
Gill, who lives on Esclusham Mountain with husband Sion, said: "When having a bath one night, drinking a bottle of my favourite home lager, I wondered how cool it would be to have a bath in my favourite Wrexham Lager.
"They have beer spas in other countries where you can bathe in beer due to the amazing benefits for skin. Ale and lager can be so beneficial for skin as they naturally contain vitamins.
"Brewers yeast and hop extracts naturally contain antiseptic and anti-inflammatory benefits. I can’t fill a bathtub full of lager so what’s the next best thing? Let’s do what I do best and make soap with Wrexham Lager!
"I approached Wrexham Lager who were happy to support another local business.
"We have developed with Wrexham Lager two different soaps to chose from. Each bar contains Mountain Gardens handmade soap formula while also adding the amazing Wrexham Lager. Both bars are highly nourishing with coconut being the number one ingredient. Our soaps are all handmade on Esclusham Mountain in Wrexham. We have a great view of the town and at this time of year we can clearly see when Wrexham AFC are playing!"
The soaps are cruelty free with no testing done on animals with the finished product or the raw ingredients. The packaging is 100% recyclable with no plastic, and no palm oil or synthetic fragrances are used.
Gill supplies handmade shampoo and deodorant bars, soaps and candles – all palm oil, cruelty and plastic-free – to independent venues and retailers.
She has been selling the Wrexham Lager soap at Christmas markets where people are snapping up bars as presents.
