She was nominated for her work with FC United of Wrexham by the chairman, Andrew Ruscoe.

She said: “I am so grateful and honoured to have won this fantastic award for the work I do with FC United of Wrexham.

“In October 2020 I had an idea of creating a sporting club in the local community with Andrew and Tom. We came together and we thought let’s take a leap and go for it, so we set the club up. The club started with a badge that I created which a year later has now led to the creation of five operating teams.

“Being such a young chairwoman, in a male dominated environment, has opened my eyes up and I’ve come to realise the hard work that goes on in running a club. It’s been a fantastic year since we had the vision of setting up a futsal and football club. I hope this award will inspire more girls and women to get involved in the sport of Futsal and actually believe that they have a place in football and futsal club politics.

“To make this project happen I quit my own football to make sure we can have a club within the community that will make people proud and hopefully engage more younger women to self-develop within sport. Once again thank you so much this means the world to me.”

Mr Ruscoe said: “Morgan’s worked tremendously hard this last year on developing herself, developing the club that she’s been working on.

“It’ll inspire Morgan to continue working hard and hopefully inspire more young girls and women to continue in the sport Futsal.”
