PEOPLE queued for over 12 hours to be the first inside Broughton Retail Park's new Tim Hortons restaurant.
The Canadian chain opened its newest restaurant today (Monday, December 13) - making it the first Tim Hortons restaurant and drive-thru in North Wales, and it's open from 6am till midnight, seven days a week.
To celebrate the opening, the brand awarded the first drive-thru and restaurant customers with free drinks for a whole year (a prize worth a staggering £3,100).
The prizes were claimed by two locals, one who began queuing in the drive-thru from 4.30pm yesterday, waiting over 12 hours, and another who queued on foot from 3.30am.
Customers in and around Broughton can now get their hands on its best-selling items, including Timbits, Iced Capps, freshly baked donuts and Tims Crispy Chicken Sandwich, as well as dinner favourites including beef burgers, hot dogs, and lattice fries.
Visitors can also try out the brand’s limited edition festive menu, which includes the Snowball Surprise Deluxe Donut, Christmas Crispy Chicken and back by popular demand, its Rudolph the Reindeer Donut.
The drinks menu includes orange or white hot chocolate, salted caramel latte and gingerbread latte - all of which are new editions to its winter warmers menu.
The brand will run a month of giveaways including free drinks and donuts as well as exclusive deals including any breakfast meal for £2.49 which includes a main breakfast item, small hot drink or orange juice and a hash brown.
These promotions will be available to anyone who activates their Tim Hortons digital card - redeemed via scanning a QR code within the store.
Kevin Hydes, chief commercial officer of Tim Hortons franchise in the UK, said: “We have had a huge reaction in Broughton in anticipation for our first ever restaurant and drive-thru in North Wales.
"At Tim Hortons we always like to make a splash upon opening, so we are delighted to see customers queuing up to try what we have on offer – and two lucky winners scooped the big prizes, so congratulations to them."
He added: “Our dedicated team have been training hard behind the scenes to ensure every customer has the quality experience we’re so well known for and we cannot wait to welcome each and every guest through the door, morning noon and night.”
