"FLOW before you go" was the battlecry from the Welsh Government as it urged people to keep themselves in the lead-up to Christmas.
No changes were brought in as First Minister Mark Drakeford announced the results of latrest Covid review in Wales on Friday - just two days after UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced winter 'Plan B' measures in England.
Instead, people in Wales are being asked to take regular lateral flow tests before going out help protect others in the lead-up to Christmas.
They are also asked to continue wearing face coverings in all public places.
Those who test positive are strongly advised to not go out, self-isolate and arrange for a PCR test.
But, although Wales remains at Alert Level 0 for now, the covid reviews will now take place every seven days instead of 21.
That means it situation changes, especially in light of the uncertainty surrounding the newly identified Omicron variant, new measures could be brought in before Christmas in Wales.
The First Minister said: "I can't give a precise sense of what would trigger restrictions. If we see a situation coming at us because of what we see elsewhere, as upsetting as it could be, we would follow that advice."
Mr Drakeford added: "If we are fortunate - it's mild illness and the booster programme is effective - then the modelling says the impact can be absorbed.
"If not, models show the impact will be much more difficult to manage."
"We are not at a point to see which of those models are more likely."
He added that it is "common sense" for people running a business or public service to plan ahead for a worst-case scenario
"It's time to plan for what might be coming our way," said Mr Drakeford.
"Planning for what might happen doesn't mean it will happen."
For now, getting a third dose of the vaccine is the best protection against the new variant, the First Minister said.
He added: “Every single vaccination is a small victory against the virus – so please make getting your vaccine or booster a priority.”
Mr Drakeford said: “The emergence of the Omicron variant is another worrying development in this long-running pandemic. We are concerned about the speed it is moving and its potential to infect large numbers of people.
“We are speeding up the rollout of boosters in response to the new variant. We’re increasing the number of clinics and extending opening hours.”
He added: “We are not back at square one.
“Please do everything you can to protect yourself and your loved ones. Please follow all the advice and all the measures which have kept us safe over the last couple of years. And let’s stay safe and well this Christmas.”
The Welsh Government say more than a million people have now received their booster vaccine.
