A NEWLY resurfaced stretch of the A483 in Wrexham is to be inspected after reports it's "worse than it was before".

The Welsh Government's Trunk Agency is responsible for work on the A483 between Junction 6 Gresford and 7 Rossett over the last few weeks.

However, the outcome of the work, which has been ongoing since mid October and caused considerable traffic disruption, has been slammed by motorists.

Dozens of people have taken to the A483 group on social media to complain that a section of the road that has now been resurfaced is "awful".

One person said: "We travelled along it today and couldn't believe how bad it was. We felt sea sick it was that bumpy and uneven.

"The contractors should be ashamed of the quality of job they've done."

Other people have described the state of the newly resurfaced stretch as "appalling", a "disgrace" and "worse than it was before".

Another comment said: "I think it will have to be relayed, no way can they leave it like that."

And the Welsh Government has now confirmed that "quality checks" will take place this Thursday evening (November 18) on the stretch of road in question to determine whether further work on it is required.

A Welsh Government spokesperson said: “We are aware of reports of uneven surfacing on the A483 north-bound and quality checks will take place on Thursday, November 18 night to determine if further work is required.

“A full diversion will be in place between J5 and J7 north and southbound to allow these checks to take place. Contra flow traffic management will resume on the north bound carriageway before 6am on Friday, November 19.”
