THE Royal Air Force Aerobatic team has announced what days they will be performing their iconic show next year - and one date will excite people in North Wales.

The UK's premier aerobatics team, who do some of their training at RAF Valley in Anglesey, will be coming to Rhyl at the end of the summer.

They will headline the Rhyl Air Show in 2022, on the weekend of August 27 and 28.

The event, an action-packed, fun-filled two-day event with spectacular displays in the air and on the ground, will be eagerly anticipated, due to it being put on hold during the pandemic.

The air show attracts thousands of spectators and celebrated its 11th successful year in 2019.

But, due to uncertainty around hosting large scale events in regard to covid-19 regulations, Denbighshire Leisure Ltd made the difficult decision not to go ahead with the Rhyl Air Show in August 2021 for a second year running.

The team of elite pilots had not performed for almost two years during the pandemic.

But in May, the aerial display team tweeted: "It’s been almost two years since the #RedArrows last performed at a UK airshow - but today the team’s been told we’re ready to return.

"Public Display Authority has been granted for the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team 2021.

"We can’t wait to see you again!"
