MOLD continues to welcome new businesses – with another shop now calling the booming market town its home.

Cambria Costume House, a theatrical costume hire and costume making service, is the latest addition to the town.

The store offers a number of creative workshops such as corsetry, costume making, embroidery, garment making and creative textile.

Paula Cain, owner and costume designer, said: “Cambria Costume House, which was formerly known as Chester Costume House, has been open since 2013 but we have now relocated to our lovely and spacious new premises on Mold High Street (above Lovelies Delight).

“I have worked in professional theatre for over fifteen years, and I am delighted to be able to offer my experience during the workshops that we are running throughout the year.

“In our new premises we have seven fully equipped sewing stations in one room and two large cutting tables in the other.

“There are also three further rooms where the hire costumes are stored and an office. I’m on the second floor so it’s great to be able to hear the bustle of the High Street but I can also see the lovely views of the hills and greenery of North Wales from the upstairs window.”

The Leader:

The Mold Mayor went and visited the new shop in the town centre.

Paula went onto say that the variety of their workshops had a ‘great response’ so far and is delighted to be joined by very talented tutors Gillian Neath, Carolyn Buxton and Val Wynne along with Peter Foster.

Paula added: “Peter was head of fashion and design at West Cheshire College for many years so it is wonderful to have him on board here at Cambria Costume House.

“Peter has been running pattern cutting evening classes and they have been a great success with many selling out, and he is also teaching tailoring, millinery and lots of creative textile workshops.

“I use my background in theatrical costume making and teach corsetry, cap and hat making, costume making and I also tutor students on a one to one basis, who are hoping to study costume related subjects at university.”

Paula said that moving the business to Mold, so far, has been one of her ‘best decisions’, adding: “I wish I had taken the plunge to move and change the business name a long time ago.

“We have been so busy with costume hires, requests for costume making and the response to the new workshops has been great.

“I’ve had attendees travel from Liverpool, Manchester and even West Yorkshire for workshops and they have all absolutely loved Mold and all that the High Street has to offer.

“There are so many interesting shops, boutiques, delis, cafes and places to see and I’m so pleased to be one of them.”

Mayor of Mold Councillor Sarah Taylor added: “I had such a great afternoon visiting Cambria Costumes, lots of fun with wide variety of costumes and hats and it was very interesting talking to the team and you can feel the passion they have for costume design.

“They really do have a fantastic range of costumes and outfits for any occasion. They also offer sewing lessons and pattern making design classes which is another great addition to the diversity of businesses on offer in Mold. We really do have something for everyone in Mold.”
