A TEENAGER was found hanged from a bridge in Wrexham, an inquest was told.

Cameron Dean Davies, 19, was pronounced dead at the Bont Bell bridge in Glyn Ceiriog on March 31 of this year.

On Friday at County Hall in Ruthin, inquest proceedings were held in relation to Mr Davies' death.

It heard that on the morning of March 31, Mr Davies, of Erw-Wladys, Glyn Ceiriog, had been reported missing by his mother, Jemma Davies.

In a statement read out at the inquest, Mrs Davies said that first thing on the morning of March 31, she had been informed by another of her sons that Mr [Cameron] Davies had "gone out for a walk".

Mrs Davies asked what sort of a mood Mr Davies was in as he left the house, and was told he seemed in a normal mood.

However, concerned for her son, who had suffered mental health issues for the past three years, she reported her son missing.

The inquest heard that at roughly 7.30am on March 31, a passerby spotted the body of a young man hanging from the Bont Bell bridge.

They immediately returned to the car, and drove home to call for an ambulance, before returning to the scene.

Paramedics attended a short time later and Mr Davies was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 8am.

A postmortem examination found only a prescribed anti-depressant at a therapeutic level in Mr Davies' system.

A pathologist's cause of death was recorded as hanging.

The inquest was told that Mr Davies, a mechanic by trade, had suffered from mental health issues from the age of 16 - including suicidal ideation.

He had sought help, and had been referred to Collaborative Assessment & Management of Suicidality (CAMS) - but had told his family that he didn't think this helped him.

Mr Davies' family told the hearing that he struggled to talk about his mental health issues, and so they couldn't ever truly get to grips with what was causing them.

Mrs Davies said that on one occasion she found Mr Davies in tears, and he said he was "stuck in a circle", but that he said no more about it.

The inquest heard that upon searching Mr Davies' room after his death, police recovered three handwritten notes left for his parents, and girlfriend.

Recording a conclusion of suicide, John Gittins, senior coroner for North Wales East and Central, said the fact that Mr Davies had left the notes, and had committed an apparent act of self-harm at a time and location where he likely wouldn't be discovered, led to him determining that Mr Davies had chosen to end his own life.
