PASSERS-BY came to the aid of a man who collapsed in a town centre in Flintshire.
The incident occurred in Mold on Thursday afternoon and saw a man suffer a cardiac arrest.
And members of the public came to the vital aid of the man as they performed CPR, phoned the ambulance and got the defibrillator from the Boots store.
They have been praised by Mold Town Council - which also wishes the man a speedy recovery.
But the town council said the incident has brought into focus the need to ensure all defibrillators in the town are available to use in an emergency.
A spokesperson said: "Following a Mold mayoral appeal a few years ago, sufficient funds were raised to place 25 public defibrillators in the town and we are very lucky to have them.
"Unfortunately however there is a worldwide shortage of a micro chip that is needed for the defib battery charge and a few of the defibs around town are awaiting new batteries which can't be purchased until in stock, so they are not in use.
"The defib from Boots was used today, so this will now be out of service until a new battery charge be sourced."
The town council said there are currently working defibrillators at the following locations:
- Outside Age Cymru charity shop (call 999 and they'll give you the code).
- Mold library,
- Daniel Owen Centre,
- Masonic Lodge (Earl road)
- Wetherspoons.
- Bailey Hill Centre
- Town hall (when offices are open)
The one which was on the outside of New Street toilets which are being demolished will be relocated to outside of Poundland in a couple of weeks.
