'IS this eerie photo taken this week evidence of a ghost haunting Flint Castle?'

That was the question we asked Leader readers on Facebook last month when we shared a mysterious photograph taken at the castle.

The question was soon being asked around the world, as sites such as the Atlantic Paranormal Society, Paranormal Forum, and Unexplained Mysteries shared the image and story.

The photograph was taken by a man during a visit to the caste with his young son on August 16.

When he looked at the photos after returning home he was shocked to see what looks like a figure on the grassy area in front of one of the castle walls.

Not wanting any publicity for himself of his son, he passed it to Lynn Murphy, who has been investigating ghost and UFO sightings at locations like Wepre Woods in Flintshire for several years.

We asked you on Facebook what you thought could be seen in the image.

Many said they saw a person, but people responding were divided over whether the figure was a child, man or woman.

Some said the figure was carrying a book - while many thought it was wearing training shoes.

Debra Jones said: "Looks like Stig of the Dump.

Kevin Owens posted: "Same camera they use on the big black cat."

Ann Taylor simply said: "Not a ghost."

Stephi Louise speculated: "Someone doing the walk of shame after a sesh that!"

The sceptics among us were more confident in what was in the photo.

Jacqui Johnston said: "It's just simply a person, what a load of hype for nothing."

Chris Wright posted: "It's literally a person."

Abbie Lamb added: "I’m pretty sure that’s Phillip Schofield."

Richard Davies said: "After this week's events, I'd say it was Ryan Reynolds in his Deadpool outfit."

Mandy Neal said: "No such thing as ghosts. Get a grip!"

A pair of trainers was something that many people saw in the image.

Alison Bushell saidL "They have converse on!"

Chris Wright replied: "Exactly. Ghosts wear Nike."

While other people thought the figure was wearing nothing at all.

Jo Russell said: "There's a streaker on the pitch."

Dav Wyn Jones said: "Looks like streaker to me."

Flint Castle is the earliest of Wales’ English-built castles, founded as part Edward I’s campaign against Llywelyn ap Gruffydd. Building work began in 1277 and the castle was largely completed by 1284.

Lynn, of Flint, said she is planning to investigate the caste in more detail.

She added: "What I will do now is go back to the castle and take more photographs.

"I have taken photos there before that have shown blurring, so I think there is some kind of energy there."
