FILMGOERS have been raving about Ryan Reynolds' new movie Free Guy - including his friend and Wrexham AFC co-owner Rob McElhenney.
Free Guy is the first movie to draw many of us back into cinemas post lockdown.
Refreshingly, it is an original concept rather than a sequel or reboot.
Like many parents, Rob and his wife and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia co-star Kaitlin Olson took their children to see the movie at the weekend.
And...they loved it!
Rob thought it was so good it made him want to punch the Canadian actor.
Rob tweeted: "Wow. @FreeGuyMovie is really, really great. I LOVED it. @KaitlinOlson loved it. My kids loved it. Another Grand slam for @VancityReynolds (Which makes you just wanna punch him, doesn’t it? But the movie taught me to hug him instead. So I’ll try that I guess).
In reply, Ryan tweeted: "Thank you, Rob. Honestly, your punches mostly tickle. And I can run really fast. "

Fans in the UK and USA have enjoyed the movie.
Twitter user Greg Halstead said: "@VancityReynolds #FreeGuy was awesome! I’m active duty military & was away from my wife and daughter for a couple weeks so went to escape and see it in 4DX yesterday. Loved it, can’t wait for the next."
Ryan replied: "Thank you for your movie attendance and your service. Not necessarily in that order…"
The epic-adventure comedy – which also stars Jodie Comer and Taika Waititi – sees bank teller Guy (Reynolds) discover he is actually a background player in the ultra-violent, open-world video game Free City.

In the movie, we learn the incredibly popular game Free City is distributed by Soonami Studios, which is run by the greedy mogul Antwan.
Coming to terms with the idea that the life he has been living is a lie, cheerful optimist Guy must navigate players committing unprovoked acts of hostility and vandalism. But luckily, he has Molotovgirl – Millie in the real world – by his side.
Idealist Guy starts to write his own story and becomes more and more popular with players and the other NPC’s (non-playable characters). But Antwan fears this threatens the success of Free City and its sequel, Free City: Carnage. Soon enough, Guy is at risk of being permanently removed from the game…
But Ryan is keen to point out that he doesn’t see Free Guy as “a video game movie”.

“It’s like saying Titanic is a movie about boatmanship,” quips the witty star, who’s known for films like Deadpool, The Proposal, and Van Wilder. “It’s not; it’s a movie about so much more. But I loved the narrow target we had to hit, to create a world that felt so authentic to gamers and then still smuggle this other story into it.”
Ryan has already suggested a sequel is in the works with a cheeky tweet.
He posted: "Aaaannnnd after 3 years messaging #FreeGuy as an original IP movie, Disney confirmed today they officially want a sequel. Woo hoo!! #irony."
