RYAN Reynolds is "mortified" that he hasn't been able to visit Wrexham since he and Rob McElhenney completed the takeover of the town's football club.
Ryan and Rob completed the much-publicised takeover of Wrexham AFC in February this year - but due to coronavirus restrictions they have been unable to visit The Racecourse.
In an interview with ITV News, Ryan said he was upset that he hadn't been able to make the trip.
He told ITV News: "I'm mortified that I haven't been able to get to Wrexham because of obvious restrictions with travel right now and all throughout the last year.
"So anytime I can reach out to the community of Wrexham and do something, I am happy to do it.
"Our work in Wrexham has as much to do with the football club as it does with the community that surrounds it. It's been really exciting and it's been a lot of fun."
The Canadian actor was speaking after charity and emergency workers were invited to an exclusive screening of his new summer movie Free Guy this week.
Fans have embraced the new owners, snapping up season tickets and creating unprecedented demand for the new TikTok sponsored home and away shirts.
The 44-year-old actor told ITV News: ""We're really excited about how much the community has embraced this season.
"This isn't anything new, the supporters at Wrexham have embraced this club forever.
"It's one of the oldest football clubs on earth so it's not anything new. I think we helped stoke something that is already there, so that's exciting!"
Rob and Ryan said they aimed to make Wrexham a "global force".
They are expected to visit Wrexham as soon as this month.
