WREXHAM AFC have set out their new hospitality packages for the 2021/22 season, with some fans criticising plans to charge for entry to The Centenary Club.
Some took to social media to criticise the club over plans to charge £100 for a season ticket to enjoy a pre-match pint at the bar, based at its Racecourse ground.
The Centenary Club season ticket plans are said to be part of a wider revamp of hospitality packages, helping the club move towards "better facilities across the board".
Tickets are now available for Executive Boxes, an Executive Room and Bamford’s Suite, in addition to The Centenary Club.
Meanwhile, the 1864 suite will become the Partners Lounge, where club partners will be welcomed and treated to a three course meal and a visit from a current squad member.
Limited ticket numbers
The club's website states that 250 Centenary Club season tickets have been made available to existing Yale Stand season ticket holders only for the 2021/22 season, with any remaining tickets offered to new Yale Stand season ticket holders.
According to the website, only pass holders will be able to gain entry to the club, with the season ticket "guaranteeing your place at the bar for less than £5 per game".
The new arrangements are said to reduce queues and offer fans a chance to enjoy "a more relaxing pre-game environment". A former Wrexham FC player will also visit The Centenary Club ahead of Saturday home games, according to the club's website.
There are said to be a limited number of these tickets available on a first come, first served basis. If any tickets are left over, then the club says that they will be available to purchase on a match-by-match basis by any Yale Stand season ticket holders.
New Wrexham AFC season tickets went on sale on Monday, July 26, when a queue of fans waited their turn to renew their tickets ahead of the 2021/22 season.
"Not Wrexham FC's finest hour"
Reacting to the £100 Centenary Club ticket charge mentioned on the club website, Rob Jones took to Twitter to say that charging fans £100 to drink in a place they've been frequenting for decades was "not Wrexham FC's finest hour".
Steve Pa said: "It's £100 to go in The Cent?"

Tony Wrexham added: "£100 for The Cent is poor - and only open to Yale stand - was a good place to catch up with fans from all round the ground before and after the game."

Meanwhile, Joshua Boam said: "So let me get this straight they (sic) charging £100 for you to use the bar and yet then you still have to pay for drinks!"

And former North Wales Police and Crime Commissioner Arfon Jones also queried the cost.
Revamp and refurbishment
Wrexham AFC CEO Fleur Robinson issued a statement about the club's 2021/22 hospitality packages.
She said: “We’re excited to welcome back supporters and partners to our hospitality areas for the new season.
“While we have made changes to some areas for the new season, these are all part of a wider revamp of the hospitality packages, which in time will include refurbishment of all areas and the creation of some new hospitality suites too.
“Our co-chairmen have pledged to improve the stadium and the match-day experience for all, and any changes made will all help build towards better facilities across the board.
“We look forward to welcoming as many partners and supporters back to the Racecourse Ground, and we know all those working in hospitality are looking forward to greeting both old and new faces before each game again.”
The Wrexham AFC website lists the details for the new arrangements for The Centenary Club as follows.
"As already announced, there will be a new system for access to the Centenary Club, promising supporters in the Yale Stand easier access to the in-ground bar, and less queuing times. Located within the Yale Stand, the Centenary Club is now only available to ticket holders on a match-day and a season pass costs just £100 on top of your regular season-ticket price.
"It means, for the equivalent of less than £5 per game, you and your fellow ticket holders can guarantee your place at the exclusive in-ground bar, with drinks and street food available to buy. Our new ticket-only policy ensures supporters will have space to enjoy a more relaxing pre-game environment and to soak up the atmosphere before the match.
"Pre-match on a Saturday, the Centenary Club will also be showing the day’s live televised matches as you warm up for the main event at the Racecourse Ground. A former player will also visit in the build-up to the game.
"Passes are strictly limited to a capacity of 250 supporters, and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. They will be made available to supporters renewing their Yale Stand season ticket first. After this, when season tickets go on general sale, any remaining places will be offered to new Yale Stand season ticket holders, so book now to avoid missing out.
"Should any tickets remain, these can be purchased on a match-by-match basis by any supporters with a ticket for the Yale Stand."
