A NEW and unique music venue is gearing up to open its doors next month.
The Leader previously reported that Heart Rock Live, located in Eagles Meadow shopping centre, will open its doors for its first gig on August 20 - featuring the Guns N' Roses Experience.
From then on, some of the UK's best tribute bands will take to the stage every weekend.
Other acts set to play there include Bulsara and His Queenies, who have headlined world-renowned Official Freddie Mercury Birthday Party in Montreux, Switzerland, for four consecutive years, and Revival - voted best ABBA tribute seven years in a row.
The team has secured a lease on the former Turquoise Kitchen and Bar and will converting this over the coming weeks, with the aim of opening in August.
Debra Jones, Social Director, said: "We will have state-of-the art sound and lighting, with an experienced technical team and opportunities for local students to be mentored by them. We will feature national acts at local ticket prices in a club setting.
"It is in response to Wrexham's live music scene needing to be reinvigorated, being inspired by my personal experiences of the NHS during a recent stay in my local hospital, and recollecting my mother's experiences in the care system at the end of her life.
"We want to help support local musicians who have been unable to work for more than a year, give release to frontline heroes from pandemic fatigue fighting against Covid, and help life-limited people recover from the damage done to them by being isolated.
"We have a weekly schedule of music related activities to bring our community together. Monday is our school of rock & pop in groups for children and teens, and our community choir. On Tuesday's we have a jam night and open mic nights on Wednesday's. Thursday nights are for up and coming Welsh bands.
"Friday and Saturday are ticketed events raising funds to provide live music and music therapy in nursing homes and hospices, with free admission for NHS workers to thank them for their service and sacrifices."
Heart Rock Live is the only community hub in Wrexham for lovers of alternative music and the live music scene.
Heart Rock Live is now appealing for plumbers, electricians, painters and decorators and cleaners, to volunteer their time and skills to its venture to provide essential works and owners of staging, lighting and sound equipment, to donate items in return for free passes to events, and pride of place on its Wall of Fame in the venue and on its website.
