So many key moments in our children's lives have changed or simply not happened as a result of the pandemic.
One talking point this year has been the annual event of praying to the weather gods - sports day.
Most schools have held events but with the absence of parents, again robbed of witnessing another of those all too fleeting special occasions in their children's lives.
So today we look back at some of the sun and fun-filled days from across the years in Wrexham and Flintshire.
From crowds of fellow youngsters watching and cheering, to space hoppers and the egg and spoon race, it's a gallery of joy and team spirit.
