A WREXHAM teenager has been handed a conditional discharge after police discovered cannabis in his pocket.
Cole Lewis Ford, of Deva Way, appeared at Wrexham Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
The 19-year-old admitted that on May 17 in Wrexham, he had in his possession a quantity of cannabis.
Anouska Youds, prosecuting, said after receiving information police stopped and searched Ford, recovering three wraps of cannabis from his coat pocket.
He made full admissions to the offence.
Alan Williams, defending, told the court: "He comes before the court for the first time, and is a young man who had suffered fairly substantial difficulties.
He was diagnosed at an early age with ADHD, autism and anxiety disorder.
"Unfortunately, cannabis appears to be something that works for him as far as his behaviour is concerned.
"On the day in question he had purchased cannabis, was walking along and was greeted by two PCSOs. "When he walked down the street he was stopped by officers who found the cannabis.
"This isn't a person who recreationally takes drugs, it helps him medicinally and hopefully something can be done to find the same result."
John Perera, chair of the Magistrates, handed down a six month conditional discharge, ordering Ford to pay £85 prosecution costs and a victim surcharge of £22.
