RESIDENTS were invited to take a look inside a £4m Flintshire crematorium to check out ‘behind the scenes’.
As Covid restrictions relax in Wales, Flintshire’s first crematorium, Memoria, held an Open Day over the weekend to allow visitors to view the facility, meet the team and see how the facility operates.
Frank Meilack, director of community engagement, said: “People got to see the choices we have that you don’t get at other crematoriums like mood lighting and stunning grounds that overlook the Dee.
“You can have an image above the catafalque and three 60-inch screens as well as Powerpoint facilities and music from Obitus.
“The open Day was fantastic. We were delighted with the volume of support we got. We had unusual hearses there too which was good.
“We are also planning a special Christmas Service of Remembrance with Macmillan Cancer Support who were presented a cheque of £190,000 which was generated from revenue from an environmental project we have at the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management.
“The Service will be on December 14 at 7pm and is called Light a Candle for a Loved One with Memoria and Macmillan. More details will be online.”
