REDEVELOPMENT work on a historical site in Mold has reached the final stages.
Bailey Hill is the site of an early medieval castle established by the Normans in the late 11th Century.
And a redevelopment project at the site has seen work, which started in January 2020, on an open air performance area, improved access to the site and redevelopment of the Custodian’s Cottage into a facility for the benefit of the community.
Practical completion on the external works and the improvements to the Custodians Cottage has now been reached, described by the Bailey Hill Steering Group as "great achievement."
However, there are a few elements which still require work.
As part of the improvement work, the steering group's contractor, TG Williams, will be undertaking the final resurfacing work of the paths. In order for this work to take place quickly and safely Bailey Hill will be closed to the public for a short period of time.
It will be closed to the public from Monday (May 24) until May 28.,The Park will be accessible again to all on May 29, so you can still visit over the Bank Holiday weekend. This work is weather dependant and therefore subject to change.
Jo Lane, Bailey Hill project officer, said “Considering the many obstacles the project team and contractors have managed and overcome in the last 12 months, reaching practical completion is a huge achievement and a great feeling.
"As the new Bailey Hill Centre is now completed, we are working extremely hard to get all services and policies in place so we can open this new fantastic facility to the public, you will not have to wait too much longer to visit.
"I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to everyone involved in the project and for the huge amount of support we have received from the community, we can’t wait to see you at Bailey Hill.”
