A WREXHAM campaigner has become the first person to feature in a forthcoming knife awareness film by a Britain's Got Talent strongman.
The Leader reported earlier this month how Danny Maddocks was to meet Stu Goldcrusher (Stuart Goldsmith) to film a video about the dangers of knives.
Mr Maddocks' 34-year-old brother Craig was murdered in a knife attack at the Cambrian Vaults pub, Wrexham, in June 2013.
Since that time, Mr Maddocks has campaigned against the carrying of blades and has encouraged people to release their aggression in the boxing gym.
He met Mr Goldcrusher, known for previously lifting Ant and Dec on Britain's Got Talent during his televised audition for the show, at Llay ABC where his brother boxed throughout his career.
Mr Maddocks said: "It went really well - we had a good chat and it's good that someone else is on board trying to get knives off the streets.
"It was a successful day and they are going to be doing a film on knife crime." He has now also joined a project to reinforce the message of "lose the knife" for children and young people.
Mr Maddocks added: "I have teamed up with Fighting Back Fitness and Boxing and we are doing boxing training on a Thursday and Tuesday at Moss Valley for youngsters aged eight to 13 and at Brymbo on the same day for ages 13 and over.
"It costs £4 per session, which goes towards supporting the club."
Mr Goldcrusher said: "When we filmed him, Danny's story was really emotional.
"This has has a massive impact on him and his family.
"The video is the first one we're doing - we will be putting together a promotional video which will take us about six months to film and will be available to schools across the UK to educate kids.
"I'd encourage parents to get their children involved in activities at the gym and boxing because its looking to ger kids off the street and away form the gangs. "When they come into they gym, it's a professional sport and it's about discipline.
"They build respect and fitness, so it's a fantastic thing."
