AS levels of the virus continue to fall, Welsh Government have allowed for more measures to be relaxed from today (March 1).
All of Wales remain in alert level four – the highest set of measures to bring COVID-19 under control.
However, some adjustments have been made from today – which will be welcomed across the country.
Welsh Government have permitted that, from March 1, the law be changed to allow licensed wedding venues to re-open.
This includes visitor attractions and hotels but only to perform wedding and civil partnership ceremonies. Wedding receptions or other social gatherings after the ceremony will continue to be prohibited.
Minor changes have been made since the level four lockdown was imposed shortly before Christmas – including tweaks to the exercise rules and allowing a household with a baby aged under one to form a bubble with one other household.
Wales has not published an official roadmap out of lockdown like UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
Instead, the nation is working on a three-week cycle of reviews.
BBC Wales reports that this is what is expected to be reviewed at the following calendar points:
• March 1 - Wedding venues to reopen;
• March 12 - 'Stay at home' guidance reviewed;
• March 15 – Non-essential retail reopens. Primary school and exam-age children back in the classroom;
• Easter (First week of April) - limited reopening of tourism industry and possibility of all students back to school.
No timeframe is outlined at present for reopening of Welsh pubs, bars, restaurants and gyms.
