RESIDENTS across North Wales have been urged to remain vigilant after a 96-year-old woman was targeted by a covid vaccine scammer.
The pensioner - who does not wish to be identified - lives in Flintshire, has already had her first dose of the vaccine and was shocked to receive a call today demanding her details.
Her son, who also wishes to remain anonymous, told the Leader: "They told her if she didn't give then her personal details, she wouldn't get her second injection.
"But my mum's quite sharp."
The woman told the caller that if the inquiry was genuine, she should already have her details.
But then the caller became "stroppy" and "nasty."
Her son continued: "She put the phone down in the end but if my mum had given her the details, she's have scammed her - the bottom line is always money.
"She's a strong lady but because of the arrogance and the aggression towards the end of the call, she was shocked."
He urged residents across the region to be extra careful, adding: "There are people out there who will spend time training themselves to talk in a smooth voice and ask people for these details.
"The lady who called my mum started out quite charming apparently, but then it got really nasty; threatening that she wouldn't get her second dose. "Don't give anything out - nothing at all.
"My mum's quite resilient but someone else out there who is vulnerable could fall for the trap."
