And following an amazing response to the design, Rachel, an Architecture Design student, and her mum Helen have created more sculptures.

A howling wolf is Rachel's latest masterpiece, while Helen tried her hand at a lion - but joked it looks more like a polar bear.

She said: "Rachel loves all things art and loves to design things and has done it all by hand - it all comes so naturally to her.

"We've been totally overwhelmed by the reaction to the sculptures - we never expected the reaction to be so great. We've seen so many families out on the common trying their hand at their own sculptures."

The Leader: Rachel's first sculpture was a snow bear. Rachel's first sculpture was a snow bear.

To create the dragon and wolf, Rachel had to collect trolley fulls of snow which she had to gather in a huge pile to the height of her sculpture before she got to work on the design.

Helen said: "Hopefully it's put a smile on the faces of local people amid what is such a difficult time for us all."
