A FLINTSHIRE Lord has praised volunteers and health workers who are administering covid-19 vaccinations after receiving his own jab.

Lord Barry Jones said he wished to thank staff operating the vaccination programme at Deeside Leisure Centre.

"Now in my mid-90s, I have had my covid jab," he explained.

"I'd like to say a big thank you to Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.

"The Deeside mass vaccination centre was on top form.

"All of the nurses, administrators and volunteers were exceptionally good and they did the patient proud.

"The brought credit to the trust. The volunteers shepherding outside in the cold were so thoughtful and volunteers inside were all on the ball; it was all smiling courtesy and orderliness - highly impressive.

"My nurse was a returner trained at Wrexham. This was a professional of the first class and she was so reassuring.

"In the room also was a highly intelligent admin officer of high competence.

"Throughout the centre things were magnificent and I would like to thank the trust for delivering to the North Wales patient again."

Throughout his career, Lord Jones has served as Health Minister to three administrations.
