AS high levels of the virus continue to be recorded in Wrexham and Flintshire, Public Health Wales can show exactly how different community compare.
The mapping feature was first added to the daily update provided by health officials in response to COVID-19 in October 2020.
It presents data broken down beyond the standard local authority areas that people could previously access and now shows how individual communities compare.
The data is gathered using Office of National Statistics figures of middle layer super output areas (MSOAs) and present the rolling number of cases in either a seven-day or 21-day window.
Darker areas indicate higher concentrations of the virus whilst lighter areas show lower transmission rates. Many areas of both Flintshire and Wrexham now enter the highest bracket for Welsh communities in the latest set of data.

Here’s what we found in Flintshire:
The figures reveal that, during the latest seven-day period, the Broughton and Saltney area has been recording the most new coronavirus reports with 104 cases.
However, it was Flint South West that had the highest concentration of cases at a rate of 966.0 cases per 100,000 people.

• Flint South West - 60 cases and rate of 966.0 cases per 100,000 people
• Gronant, Ffynnongroyw and Trelawnyd - 42 cases and rate of 841.9 cases per 100,000 people
• Holywell and Bagillt - 51 cases and rate of 466.9 cases per 100,000 people
• Hope - 35 cases and rate of 565.4 cases per 100,000 people
• Leeswood, Treuddyn and Gwernaffield - 55 cases and rate of 739.8 cases per 100,000 people
• Mold - 52 cases and rate of 513.7 cases per 100,000 people
• Mostyn and Holway – 38 cases and rate of 570.8 cases per 100,000 people
• New Brighton and Mynydd Isa - 30 cases and 416.4 cases per 100,000 people
• Pen-y-ffordd and Higher Kinnerton – 56 cases and rate of 912.2 cases per 100,000 people
• Queensferry and Sandycroft - 38 cases and rate of 683.0 cases per 100,000 people
• Shotton and Garden City - 58 cases and rate of 572.8 cases per 100,000 people
Here’s what we found in Wrexham:
Over the border in Wrexham, the Hermitage and Whitegate area – has the highest number of new cases in the data recording 116.
In total, there are eight areas of Wrexham that now cross the 1,000 cases per 100,000 threshold. Gwersyllt West and Summerhill continue to be the worst affected with 1,552.7 per 100,000.

• Coedpoeth and Brymbo - 94 cases and rate of 1,030.1 cases per 100,000 people
• Gresford, Marford and Rossett - 112 cases and rate of 783.7 cases per 100,000 people
• Gwersyllt West and Summerhill - 92 cases and rate of 1,552.7 cases per 100,000 people
• Hermitage and Whitegate - 116 cases and rate of 1,325.1 cases per 100,000 people
• Johnstown North and Rhostyllen - 43 cases and rate of 701.1 cases per 100,000 people
• Llay South and Gwersyllt East - 81 cases and rate of 1,009.3 cases per 100,000 people
