NORTH Wales will be home to at least 20 coronavirus vaccination sites, it has been confirmed.
Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) has confirmed that the region already has its Mass Vaccination Centres (MVCs) that are located at the three rainbow hospitals – which are based in Bangor, Deeside and Llandudno.
The health board said it will also be utilising its Hospital Vaccination Centres (HVCs) at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Glan Clwyd Hospital and Wrexham Maelor Hospital.
To boost this, there are also going to be local vaccination centres (LVCs) that will help make the vaccine more accessible when people are called to receive their COVID-19 jab.
However, these LVCs will begin vaccinating later in the delivery phase with a priority being to provide jabs in partnership with primary care providers, at main acute hospital sites and via MVCs.

The list, published on the BCUHB website, comes just days after the health board revealed their plans for the month in terms of vaccinating the eligible portion of the population.
Publishing an update at the start of this week, Monday, BCUHB’s executive director of Public Health, Teresa Owen, said that the health board were planning to increase the number of vaccinations they deliver.
On January 11, Ms Owen said that BCUHB were given 8,576 doses of the Pfizer BioNTech and 6,300 doses of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine to continue vaccinating the current eligible groups which includes:
• Care home residents and staff
• High risk frontline healthcare staff
• People aged over 80, including hospital inpatients
• Primary care staff
• Social care staff
• Welsh Ambulance Service staff
She said: “We will continue to deliver the vaccine from our MVCs and HVCs. The aim is to reach as many people as quickly as possible, particularly those group identified as being most vulnerable. The supply of vaccines we receive will also continue to increase in coming weeks to help us do this.
“We are also starting to deliver the vaccine with the support of our primary care partners, and we will share more information about this in the coming weeks. As previously stated, this is particularly important given the large area we cover in North Wales.
“This will be supported by working with community pharmacy teams, who can provide further opportunities for people to get their vaccine as close to home as possible.”
By the end of January, Ms Owen says the health board aims to have vaccinated 90 per cent of these eligible groups.
She continued: “To help keep people up-to-date with the vaccination programme, every household in North Wales will receive a letter this week.
“This will explain in more detail the list of priority groups that will be vaccinated first, how they will be contacted and other useful information.
“We continue to remind people that they do not need to contact the Health Board or their GP as they will be contacted by telephone or letter when it is their turn to be vaccinated.”
