RESIDENTS in Chirk are preparing for a visit from Father Christmas at the weekend.
Chirk Santa is set to visit the town this week, and the man who makes it all happen has been giving thanks to those who have donated goods for the event.
Matt Fleet has organised the Chirk Santa event for the past six years, and has not let the Covid-19 pandemic stop him spreading festive joy this year.
In doing so, he has been raising money for Chirk Hospital and Chirk Court Care Home, with donations being made to a PayPal account set up for the Chirk Santa event.
His effort has been well-received by local businesses, with the SPAR donating a trolley-full of chocolate goods for the evening, and the Co-op donating sweets and setting up a raffle to win a Christmas hamper.
Matt has given thanks to everyone who has donated, and said: “Our community is absolutely amazing and again I’m overwhelmed by all the kindness I’ve seen.”
Chirk Santa is set to visit the town on Saturday, December 19.
