A COMMUNITY-run bar and Welsh Centre in Wrexham is hoping to repay Hollywood superstar Ryan Reynolds with a very special 'croeso' after receiving three cases of premium Aviation Gin.

Saith Seren on Chester Street in the town centre had a special delivery just days after the Deadpool film star and his fellow actor Rob McElhenny were allowed to take ownership of Wrexham AFC.

The gin cases were accompanied by a cryptic note from the man himself that reads: "To the folks at Saith Seren: Some for you and some for me. Hopefully see you soon - Ryan Reynolds"

Chris Evans, chair of community cooperative that runs Saith Seren, said: "He's welcome to pop in anytime!

"This is such a generous gift to one of the many bars in the town that have supported the club in a practical way down the years.

"We've sponsored matches, held fundraisers for Wrexham Supporters' Trust and hosted events with managers and players here in the past.

"This season it's been very different and we've donated funds from live streaming games to keep the club going.

"Now everything's changed but it's good to see that we haven't been forgotten.

"So this is a very kind gesture by the new owners and, like the Fat Boar and The Turf, we'll be donating all money raised by selling this gin to good local causes.

"We also plan on keeping one bottle back to auction it online with the message from Ryan so that we can raise even more money for charity.

"The Trust board led by Spencer Harris, a good friend of Saith Seren, deserve huge thanks for the way they've conducted themselves in recent months to secure this incredible deal."

Saith Seren celebrates its ninth birthday in January and Chris said this was just the tonic needed after a very difficult year of trading.

He added: "Ryan and Rob will always be very welcome down at Saith Seren once the pandemic is over and it's possible for them to travel.

"If they want a quick lesson in how to order a Wrexham Lager in Welsh, we can sort that out.

"And, as with all the celebrities who call by Saith Seren, we'll ask them to pour one of our many local real ales such as from Big Hand or Cwrw Iâl breweries.

"We want to wish them all 'iechyd da' and raise a glass to a new era for Wrexham AFC."

Nia Jones, who manages the bar at Saith Seren, was equally delighted at the surprise gift: "It's not everyday a Hollywood superstar sends you a message let alone 18 bottles of gin.

"I'm sure our regular customers will want to sample it - as will I.

"It's called Aviation Gin and I can see it flying off the shelves with all the buzz the takeover has created in town.

"But we'll make sure to keep a bottle back just in case Ryan pops in because, as he said, 'some for you, some for me'."
