WREXHAM AFC's potential Hollywood owners have surprised the legendary Turf Hotel with a special gift.

Hollywood stars and prospective Wrexham AFC owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, have surprised Wayne Jones, pub partner at the legendary Turf Hotel, by sending him a case of Reynolds’ own spirit, Aviator Gin.

Wayne, who runs the pub, owned by community pub company Hawthorn, is planning to donate all proceeds from sales to local food banks and children’s charities.

The Leader: The Turf wasn't the only Wrexham pub to receive the gift, with the Fat Boar also receiving a similar package from Ryan Reynolds. The Turf wasn't the only Wrexham pub to receive the gift, with the Fat Boar also receiving a similar package from Ryan Reynolds.

The Turf Hotel is the only pub in the UK to be built inside the grounds of a football club and is now the oldest public house at any sport stadium in the world.

The Turf is the official pub of the Wrexham supporters club, and when the pub has been able to open, Wayne has been streaming Wrexham fixtures to ensure that fans have been able to get together to follow the Red Dragons.

The Leader:

Wayne Jones said: “Thanks to the generosity of our friends Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenny, every last drop of Aviation Gin sold at the Turf will be saved and every penny donated to local food banks and children’s charities. Diolch.”

Sharing their vision for Wrexham AFC with the club's Supporters Trust on Sunday, Reynolds and McElhenney say they want the club to become a "global force".

More than 2,000 trust members can vote to decide the club's future and for the resolutions to be approved, 75% of members who respond to the ballot must vote in favour.
Members will be able to vote from Monday until Sunday, November 15 and a decision is expected the following day.
