A FLINTSHIRE man was found dead at home by his son, an inquest heard.
Stephen Smith Ellis, 49, of Queen Street in Leeswood was pronounced dead in the early hours of July 21, 2019.
An inquest held in Ruthin into Mr Ellis' death heard that he was a known alcoholic and the court heard that he "was not a well man".
On the evening of July 20 of last year, he went to bed due to being intoxicated while his son, Robbie Collard, stayed downstairs playing video games.
At around 11.30pm, Mr Collard went to check on his father and found him face down on the bedroom floor.
Emergency services were called and paramedics attempted CPR but despite their best efforts Mr Ellis was pronounced dead shortly after midnight.
A post-mortem examination into Mr Ellis' death found evidence of anti-depressants, an anti-psychotic, paint killers, sleeping pills and a beta blocker in his system.
The court heard that histology tests found that Mr Ellis' liver had suffered significant damage as a result of his excessive drinking, and rendered it unable to filter the drugs out of his system as the liver should.
Over time, the drugs built up in his system to a fatal level, the inquest heard.
Recording a conclusion of accidental death, John Gittins, senior coroner for North Wales East Central, determined on the balance of all probabilities the cause of death to be accidental poisoning by prescription drugs.
