And Mrs Jones says the incident has left her too shaken to ever go out road running alone again.

The 34-year-old said: "It was just so horrific that despite the fact I have road ran for over 15 years I will not be doing it again alone.

"I feel like I’ve been completely shattered and I’m normally so confident.

"I'd urge people - especially girls - to join the gym instead of going running on  their own, or run in groups."

North Wales Police is investigating the incident.

Inspector Gareth Cust said: “This was a totally unprovoked and frightening attack on a person going about her own business.

"Fortunately the victim was not seriously hurt. The suspect is described as a white male, possibly in his 30's, around 6' tall, of average build and with dark hair.

"He was wearing shorts and black Nike Vapour Max trainers and a dark or blue coloured top."
