A WREXHAM man who has been stuck in Peru over coronavirus concerns is finally able to return home.
The Leader has reported recently on the situation of Garden Village resident Alex Foulkes, 31.
On March 15, he and more than 150 other people were put into quarantine at a hostel in Cusco, Peru, after two guests tested positive for the virus.
His dad Steve Foulkes explained how he and his wife Gillian were worried a about how long he may have to stay at the hostel and how he and the other guests were warned they could face imprisonment if they broke the quarantine rules.
But on Monday afternoon, Mr Foukes told the Leader he and his family were "over the moon" after quick developments over the weekend meant his son had been able to board a flight home.
He explained: "It was quite frantic in the end, he rang us on the Sunday to say there had been an urgent call from the embassy to get a bus to Cusco Airport.
"There was a little bit of anxiety about whether the plane would actually take off, but it did and he got to Lima.
"Then they took off from Lima at about 9pm our time."
Mr Foulkes explained that as of about 1.15pm on Monday, Alex was about to board a flight from Frankfurt to London.
He said: "The plane arrives in London at about 2.20pm - it's fantastic news.
"We're over the moon and just so grateful to have him back.
"He feels great to be coming home as well."
