A SHOP and delivery service has been set up at a Flintshire community hub amid the coronavirus crisis.
The scheme has been launched at the Daniel Owen Centre in Mold, and sees people place orders for groceries and have them delivered to their front door by volunteer drivers.
Cllrs Gareth Williams and Karen Hodgkinson have organised the initiative - with stock including items such as bread, milk, eggs, yoghurts, bacon and fruit and veg.
Payment can be made via cash or Paypal, and orders can be placed by calling 01352 754792 or by emailing danielowencmold@hotmail.com
Deliveries are available for people living within five miles of Mold, but Cllr Williams said in exceptional circumstances the drivers will go further afield.
He said: "The other day a lady from Bagillt rang us to say she wasn't able to get any shopping and she was panicking.
"We sent out a driver to deliver her food, and in circumstances like that we'll never let anyone down.
"There's a £2.50 delivery charge for people living further than the five mile radius, just to go to our volunteer drivers for their petrol costs.
"But we'll help people explore other options before delivering to them."
The shop is open 10am and 3pm, Monday to Saturday.
Cllr Williams is appealing for tech-savvy people to get in touch about how the shop can launch a makeshift card machine service.
He said: "The card companies are saying we have to commit to one-year contracts, which we don't want to do.
"So if anyone knows of an alternative measure, that'd be great."
