AN ANNUAL charity fundraising event, which was set to take place next month, has been postponed because of the coronavirus.

The Red Lion Family Fun Day was due to take place in Penyffordd on Saturday, April 25, but will instead be rearranged to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

An organiser for the event said: “Due to current situations we will be postponing this event.

“As you can all imagine there is no way we can host such a massive event at present.

“However, rest assured I will speak with the team at the Red Lion to find another date we can host, and we can have something to look forward too after this pandemic.

“I hope everyone understands this is out of our hands, and all of the stall holder’s money is still on the just giving page.”

A range of local stalls were due to appear at the fun day, while an ice cream van, a bouncy castle and a face painting service were also going to offer their services.

Live music and a barbeque would have also been available throughout the event, which was set to run from 1pm up to the night.

Charity raffles and auctions were also due to take place, while the stars of Britannia Wrestling Promotions were also going to make an appearance to help raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.

While the UK attempts to ‘flatten the curve’ of coronavirus cases through a three week lockdown, the Penyffordd pub is playing its part in supporting the community by offering free meals to key workers during the pandemic.
