FALKLANDS War hero Simon Weston is calling on people from Wrexham and North Wales to nominate their unsung heroes who represent ‘The Best Of British’.

Simon has once again joined forces with global hearing specialist Amplifon for The Amplifon Awards for Brave Britons 2020, which will celebrate truly remarkable people who are an example to the nation.

And this year there are two new categories – Single Act of Bravery and Hero Celebrity. The latter will honour a celebrity who either has performed an act of courage or has shown outstanding dedication to a charity or organisation.

The other six categories are: Service To Their Country (for military and uniformed services); Against All Odds; Hero Pet; Young Hero (for youngsters up to the age of 17); Charity Champion and Active Agers (for people over 60)

Simon said: “The Amplifon Awards for Brave Britons will shine a light on a very British breed of hero. Those, like Amplifon founder and Second World War hero Major Charles Holland, who through incredible acts of courage, selflessness and dedication, are an inspiration to others.”

The closing date for entries is Friday, June 19, and nominations can be made via the Amplifon website https://www.amplifon.com/uk/about-us/brave-briton-awards

The winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Army and Navy Club in London on Wednesday, September 30.
