HUNDREDS of people have come together to support the elderly and most vulnerable across the county.
In response to the coronavirus outbreak, concerns have been raised for the elderly residents in Flintshire if the need to self-isolate arises.
James Hunt, founder of the Nanny Biscuit community project, has set up a new community group, along with the other hard-working volunteers, to ensure the elderly and most vulnerable have what they need during this time of crisis.
The group is asking for as many volunteers to come forward and offer their time to ensure people in the county do not go without.
The community group - Nanny Biscuits Flintshire Corona virus help group – will be offering the delivery of food supplies and a pen-pal service over the phone.
James said that by ‘working together, we can help them through this’.
He added: “We’ve set this group up in response to Covid-19 outbreak with information being released that vulnerable people and those over 70 will be asked to self-isolate.
“We, as a community group have set up a reactive task force to help those people by providing services such as shopping and deliveries and we are going to set up a pen pal phone call service all to help these people in times of crisis.
“We are still ironing out the details, but we would like as many people to get involved as possible.”
Hundreds of people have already joined the Facebook Page offering their help and support from being willing to go shopping or offering advice on pointing those in the right direction of what supplies they need.
James added: “The response we’ve had so far has been amazing. We’ve had over 300 people already joined the group to offer their help and services.
“We just have to be careful because we are dealing with vulnerable people, so we are going over the safeguarding.
“For those that are worrying, know that the community is going to help so just get in touch if you need us.
“This group is needed because the councils don’t have the money nor the resources to respond to something like this, it is unprecedented.
“Everyone should pitch in and help where they can.”
