AN ICONIC building in Wrexham is to be demolished to make way for affordable council houses.
The building, Centre 67 Rhosddu Road, in Rhosddu is a large building set between St James Church and the Spar supermarket.
It was originally the church vicarage but is now owned by Wrexham Council.
Discussions over the plans have been continually held behind close doors.
And at a meeting of Rhosddu Community Council County Cllr Marc Jones said he was "disgusted" the way Wrexham Council has handled the situation.
He said it has been done behind doors and in secret and there has been no consultations.
The building has been empty for 15 years and is still in good condition.
“The only silver lining is that the site is to be used for affordable housing which will be very welcome in Rhosddu,” said Cllr Jones.
