A NATIONAL training programme supported by the Arts Council Wales will be beginning its tour of the country in Wrexham.
The Rooting Hip Hop Theatre in Wales programme will start off its tour at 7.30pm on Valentine’s Day (February 14) in Ty Pawb, Wrexham.
The Breakin’ Conventions artist Jonzi D will host the event that will see some of the UK’s finest hip hop artists daring to try something new, dangerous and exciting.
Artists will have a week of intense research and development under the mentorship of hip hop theatre aficionados Jonzi D, Ivan Blackstock and Anthony Lennon.to create brand new short works.
Six of those pieces of work will then be presented to the audience members who will then be invited to critique and feedback, or the chance to ask questions to the artists involved.
It is hoped that the event will help to develop theatre skills within hip hop artists and to experiment with new ideas that could be developed further in the future.
The Rooting Hip Hop Theatre in Wales Programme is being run by Breakin’ Convention in partnership with Avant Cymru.
