A RHOS man has been jailed for 10 weeks after he drove a van while he was banned from the road.
Geoffrey Roberts, 29, of Wern Las admitted driving while disqualified, failing to stop for a police officer and driving without insurance and a test certificate on August 28 last year when he appeared before North East Wales Magistrates’ Court.
Prosecutor Justin Espie said that Roberts made a U-turn to get away from police when he was spotted in Wern Las by police.
Officers recognised Roberts and knew he was a banned driver – serving a 48-month suspension.
Roberts had changed his initial not guilty plea and Cath Jagger, defending, said: “He does not welcome the idea of custody but he is somewhat realistic and is prepared that may be the course of action magistrates choose.
“He doesn’t have a good record but it is two years since he was before a court.
“He hopes to move out of Rhos and has an eye to the future.”
