A CHESTER and Wrexham-based theatre company will begin its 2020 season by playing host to one of the UK's most popular and longest running folk groups as well as staging an adaptation of one of Emily Bronte's most popular works.
The new season, launched by local Theatre company Tip Top Productions at The Forum Studio Theatre in Chester, will open with a special concert appearance by folk group The Houghton Weavers on Saturday, January 25, at 7.30pm.
The popular group, famous for their live shows, as well as their own BBC TV and radio show,s have been entertaining audiences for over 44 years with their unique blend of popular folk music, humour and audience participation.
The Weavers current line up sees Jim Berry, the brother of founder member Tony Berry who sadly passed away last year, performing alongside Steve Millington and David Littler.
Steve Davies, artistic director of the Forum Studio Theatre's resident company Tip Top Productions, said: "We always look foward to welcoming The Houghton Weavers back to The Forum Studio Theatre. They have a real following throughout the UK and always guarantee a wonderful evening of entertainment which is suitable for all the family."
Tickets are also on sale for Tip Top's staging of Emily Bronte's classic tale "Wuthering Heights", adapted for the stage by Jane Thornton and directed for Tip Top by Laura Coard. The show, based on the classic novel runs from January 29 to February 1 at 7.30pm, with a matinee performance at 2.30pm on Saturday 1st February.
Speaking about bringing the classic novel to the stage, director Laura Coard said: "The classic saga of two Yorkshire families in the remote Pennine Hills, and the doomed relationship of Heathcliff and Cathy Earnshaw is brilliantly brought to life in Jane Thornton’s new stage adaptation which we hope fans of Emily Bronte will really enjoy, We are really looking forward to bringing the well known characters of the book to life on stage in what will be Tip Top's first production of 2020".
