TWO pop legends will be welcomed to Llangollen's distinguished Royal Pavilion stage in 2020 to co-headline Llanfest, the International Eisteddfod’s finale party.
James Morrison and Will Young will be co-headlining this year’s Llanfest on Sunday, July 12.
The two BRIT Award-winning artists will be performing individual sets that will include their greatest hits and material from their latest albums.
James Morrison
With the release of his debut album in 2006, Undiscovered, singer-songwriter, James Morrison was catapulted into the limelight. The album went on to sell over a million copies with fans being enraptured by the beauty of his distinctive voice. Morrison has sold seven million records since his triple-platinum debut album. He went on to have three more Top 10 albums, including two number ones, and won the Brit Award for Best British Male in 2007.
His performance in Llangollen promises to delight fans with a selection of his top 10 singles, including the breakthrough smashes You Give Me Something and Wonderful World, plus a collection of songs from his latest album, You’re Stronger Than You Know.
Will Young
Will Young has spent much of the last two decades at the forefront of pop, having won the inaugural series of Pop Idol, which shot him to national fame. A chart-storming career followed including seven top 5 albums (four reaching the top spot) and four number 1 singles, including Leave Right Now and Jealousy ensuring his standing as an iconic part of noughties UK pop culture.
Llanfest has quickly become a firm favourite in the summer festival diary with outside stages featuring live music throughout the day and a chilled festival atmosphere in the spectacular setting of the Dee Valley.
Tickets for the International Eisteddfod are now on sale, with a star-studded selection of evening concerts, including Beverley Knight, Aled Jones and Russell Watson and Manchester Collective.
The International Eisteddfod’s Artistic Director, Dr Edward Rhys-Harry, said, “It’s always an exciting time here in Llangollen when we announce our headline acts for the Eisteddfod.
“James Morrison and Will Young have fantastic reputations as two of the UK’s best vocalist of the noughties. Llanfest promises to be a culmination of the Eisteddfod’s weeklong international celebrations.”
The announcement of the Eisteddfod’s 2020 line-up comes following a great deal of excitement surrounding the release of the collaborative album between Aled Jones and Russell Watson, Back in Harmony and the sell-out UK tour of Beverley Knight’s BK25.
