THE generosity of a young mum who lost her battle with cancer was alive and well when her former colleagues offered free treatments to Cancer Warriors.
Staff at Kate McIver Skin also arranged for a further 10 businesses across the area to take part, as well as others in North Wales and beyond.
Kate, who is from Hawarden, Flintshire, originally developed her Secret Weapon beauty serum to make her skin look and feel better while she underwent gruelling treatment for breast cancer.
She died in March aged 30, leaving behind her loving husband Chris, young daughter Lucia and beauty business based in the village.
Determined to keep Kate’s spirit alive and continue her work, colleagues have been doing all they can to help women battling cancer.
Speaking about the latest event, Kathryn Orr, of Kate McIver Skin, said: “We called it the Kate McIver Faceathon to put a smile on the Cancer Warriors’ faces.
“In our own clinic we provide Cancer Warriors facial treatments each month so we decided to dedicate the whole day in memory of Kate and continue the amazing work she carried out supporting Cancer Warriors.”
Kathryn sent the Leader several testimonies from people who had received the free treatments.
One woman said: “Having only finished chemo this year it was a much needed pamper and I’ve honestly never felt so special in my life.
“I adored all the staff involved and was treated like a princess. The facial was one of the best treatments I’ve ever had. I will 100 per cent be treating myself in the future.
“And I was given some of the Kate McIver face serum that I adore to take home. My experience at Camilla Rose and the hairdressers next door was honestly amazing too. What wonderful work the whole team do.”
Another added: “Thank you so much for inviting me to be part of the Kate McIver Faceathon. What you have done for me and all the other ladies is just amazing! My skin is the best it’s ever been, even before Chemo!
“Kate would be so proud of this whole event, and I am so grateful for the lovely products and treatments! I can’t wait for all the new range to come out. Thank you so much!”
The Kate McIver Skin also took two randomly chosen women from Chester and one from Liverpool to London for two days courtesy of Virgin trains first class to meet celebs Trinny Woodall, Gaby Roslin and Lisa Snowdon.
Kathryn said: “They had their hair done in Nicky Clarke and we wined and dined the group courtesy of Montcalm Hotel Marble Arch and Aqua Nueva on Regent Street. Our company paid for their overnight stay in the Montcalm to ensure they had the best night’s sleep after a busy day.”
