THOUSANDS braved the cold weather to witness one of the biggest fireworks displays in Flintshire this weekend.
Deeside Round Table, a non-profit organisation, organised the charity bonfire and fireworks display at Deeside Leisure Centre on November 2
Families wrapped up warm in their big coats now that winter is officially here and enjoyed all there was to offer at the night-time event.
With an award-winning firework display team, an impressive bonfire and a funfair, this event had something for all the family and was not to be missed.
A spokesman for Deeside Round Table said: “Massive thanks to the people of Deeside. You turned out in your thousands last night for our annual charity bonfire and fireworks display. I'm sure you'll agree that the display itself was awesome but, more importantly, together we raised thousands of pounds for charity. Remember, 100 per cent of the profits from last night will be distributed to local good causes in the near future.”
Organised displays, such as this, offer the safest way to enjoy the Bonfire Night celebrations.
A spokesman for North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “The best advice we can give is to attend an organised event rather than risking your safety by having your own bonfire or fireworks display.”
However, if you are planning to use fireworks or organise a bonfire at home, there are plenty of safety tips on the Fire and Rescue Service website – including sparkler safety, where and what fireworks to buy and a safe method of disposal.
Here are some of the displays that are listed to take place around Flintshire this week:
• Mold – Tuesday, November 5 at Mold Alex Football Club, Denbigh Road at 6.30pm. £3 adults and £2 for under 16s.
• Buckley – Tuesday, November 5 at Higher Common, Hawkesbury Road at 6pm. Free admission.
• Flint – Friday, November 8 at Flint Castle, Castle Dyke Street at 6pm. £4 adults, £1 children and £10 for a family (2 adults and 4 children).
