A NEW breakfast club is launching this half term to help tackle food poverty in Wrexham.
Families will be able to enjoy breakfast cereal with milk, toast, fruit, tea, coffee and fruit juice from Monday 28 October to Friday 1 November at Wales & West Housing’s Hightown Community Resource Centre on Fusilier Way.
There will also be a quiet area for parents to sit with children to read or play games together.
The breakfast club sessions will run from 9.30am-11am Monday to Friday, free of charge on a first come, first served basis.
Annette Bryden, Centre Manager for HCRC, said: “As well as helping to tackle food poverty in the area, we want the sessions to be beneficial socially and educationally. The breakfast club will be relaxed and informal and anyone is welcome to attend.”
The initial run of the Breakfast Club is being funded by a £150 donation, match-funded by WWH, supported by food donations from Wrexham Foodbank, Kelloggs, Morrisons and Asda.
Following the initial event this October half term, there are plans to hold more during future school holidays.
For more information email hightowncrc@wwha.co.uk or just turn up on the day from 9.30am onwards. Last entry will be 10.45am.
