A POPULAR Wrexham bingo caller has won a prestigious award.
Jason Davies, bingo caller for Mecca Wrexham, has been announced as the winner of Mecca’s ‘Host of the Year’ competition.
Following the crowning of his award, Jason will now go on to compete in the National Bingo Caller of the Year 2019 competition on November 24 as Mecca’s representative.
The Wrexham resident beat four other regional finalists from Mecca clubs across the country for the title, which was decided by Mecca’s loyal customers themselves via a Facebook poll.
Bingo fans voted by commenting on the competition post for their favourite, most enthusiastic and fun club host, and lucky Jason came out on top.
He will now go forward as Mecca’s frontman in the National Game’s Caller of the Year 2019 competition taking place on 24th November, where he will be up against callers from across the world of bingo for the opportunity to win the title and a £1,000 cash prize.
The bingo caller is the heartbeat of every club; the one who takes centre-stage and breathes fun and excitement into every single session.
After narrowing it down from hundreds of great callers, Jason made the final five for Mecca Bingo Wrexham. Jason has been a caller at the club for two years and thinks that his unique way of incorporating Welsh phrases into his calling makes him a cut above the rest.
Mike Etherington, general manager at Mecca Bingo Wrexham, said: “We are so thrilled to be able to announce that our very own Jason Davies has won the public’s vote to become Mecca’s ‘Host of the Year’. "We’re confident that our loyal customers will continue to support him through his journey in the National Game Caller of the Year 2019 competition, too.”
