A NATIONAL cleaning company has stepped in to help remove the two-week old graffiti from a town's war memorial.
Residents were left outraged after discovering a swastika on the Connah's Quay and Shotton war memorial, across the plate commemorating those that fought for their country.
The outline of the graffiti can still be seen despite officers from Flintshire Council's Streetscene trying to remove it.
The Leader has previously reported that they were limited to what they can do without causing damage but a national company had offered to clear it using specialist equipment.

A spokesman for Connah's Quay town council has now named the company, which is Graffiti-Busters, based in Kent.
They said: "Our local Streetscene operatives attended promptly, and made a valiant effort to remove the offending image. However they were unable to remove the image fully as – quite understandably – they did not want to cause damage to the plaque. Obviously we are grateful for their assistance.
"The incident did attract a great deal of coverage – both locally and nationally – and as a result of the coverage, a national specialist company, Graffiti-Busters, made contact and offered to attempt to remove the graffiti, and at the same time give the Memorial a clean free of charge.
"This gesture is greatly appreciated. We have been in discussions to discuss arrangements and schedules to have the works undertaken."
Staff at the cleaning company will complete the work on Monday, April 1 but a time is not yet known.
