A SECURITY officer at Wrexham bus station ended up assaulting another man and shouted at him when he saw him a few days later.

Michael James Connor now expected to lose his job, a court was told.

Connor, 40, of New Road, Brynteg, admitted assaulting Mark Formstone on January 11 and a public order offence four days later.

Appearing at North East Wales Magistrates Court, he was placed on a 12 month community order with 80 hours unpaid work in the community.

They ordered compensation of £100 to Mr Formstone.

The Mold court heard there had been an earlier altercation.

On January 11 Connor was sitting behind the complainant on a bus, pushed him off the bus when it came to a stop and he was then assaulted.

Some days later in Egerton Street, Wrexham, Connor was said to have shouted at him and said he knew where he lived.

Probation officer Andrew Connah said Connor was working in security at the bus station and frequently had difficulties with people in that area.

It was the defendant's case that there had been provocation but he knew his behaviour was unacceptable and that he should have dealt with it differently.

Connor had no previous convictions and he did not know what was going to happen to his job, although he thought he would probably lose it.

The incident had caused him to think long and hard about the type of work he had been doing.

"He would like to change his vocation," he said.

Connor had a disability and suffered from a rare condition where his hand and arm would swell up and would bleed easily if knocked.

Magistrates said it was a nasty incident and he should be ashamed.

Simon Simmons, defending, said his client would now lose his security badge because of the conviction.
