Residents have been left outraged and disgusted after a town war memorial was vandalised overnight.
The Connah's Quay and Shotton War Memorial was targeted last night, Monday, by vandals who appear to have painted a swastika on the High Street memorial.
Cllr Andy Dunbobbin took to social media to share pictures of the damage and reported that the Streetscene supervisor has been informed. It is hoped that the paint will be removed as soon as possible.
In the post on social media, which has been widely shared, residents expressed their outrage at the disrespect shown.
A spokesman from Connah’s Quay Town Council said: “We are shocked and disgusted that anybody would deliberately vandalise a memorial for the brave soldiers who gave their lives for their country.
“With any luck, there are some CCTV cameras in the area that caught something that will be able to help North Wales Police with their investigation. We hope that those responsible are identified and brought to justice and would urge anyone with information to call 101.”
