THE CO-OP in Johnstown has been broken into by burglars.
The break in took place at around 1.30am on Sunday morning, with the intruders entering the premises to take the cash machine.
Earlier this year the same store was attacked in an apparent ram-raid, with the ATM also being the main target.
A spokesperson for the Co-op, said: “There was an incident at our Ruabon Road, Johnstown, store at around 1.30am on Sunday, December 30, where an unsuccessful attempt on the ATM took place.
“We appeal for anyone with information to contact the police. We would like to thank the police for the speed of their response. The store has now re-opened to serve the community.
“The Co-op works closely with police and other crime prevention bodies, implementing a range of measures designed to deter and disrupt criminal activity and increasing the likelihood of capture and conviction.”
A spokesperson for North Wales Police said: “We can confirm that in the early hours of Sunday morning an attempted burglary took place at the Co-op in Johnstown. Police attended the scene and a entry had been gained and it appears as though the target was the store’s ATM.
“Enquires are ongoing and we ask anyone with information to contact 101.”
