A LAKE has been closed to fisherman after the discovery of a number of dead fish at the site.
Wrexham Council has confirmed a number of dead fish have been found at Acton Park lake recently, which the authority says could be due to a number of reasons.
A council spokesman said: "It could be that oxygen levels are low due to the warm weather or it could be due to a fish virus known as KHV. It is not harmful to humans.
"The Fish Health Inspectorate is carrying out tests to establish whether or not the virus is present. The tests will take up to four weeks to confirm, or otherwise, the presence of the disease.
"Notices have been put up and bailiffs will help enforce the temporary closure."
The spokesman added that the public will be updated when the lake is open to fishing again.
