POLICE are investigating the death of a prisoner at HMP Berwyn.
North Wales Police issued a statement on Easter Monday April 2, saying that the death of a 22- year- old man at the prison, which is located on Wrexham Industrial Estate, was being investigated.
The statement said: “ North Wales Police can confirm that following a report from HMP Berwyn on March 30 2018, they are investigating the death of a 22- year- old man from the North Wales area.
“He had been detained at the establishment.” A Ministry of Justice spokesman, said: “Luke Jones died in custody at HMP Berwyn on Saturday, March 31, 2018. As with all deaths in custody, there will be an independent investigation by the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman. The police are investigating this matter.”
